Tri-County Thunder’s Kaitlyn Overeem will join the University of Waterloo’s women’s basketball program this fall.

Overeem is confident in her decision to study kinesiology in a co-op program. Not only are the academics a great fit but she also looks forward to joining “Coach Craig’s” roster.

Craig Nickel is a familiar face to the JUEL league as a former head coach for the Tri-County Thunder program before being offered his current job as the Waterloo Warrior’s head coach. She is eager to compliment his playing style.

Overeem is most excited for an opportunity to experience a new way to play and learn.

When looking back on this past regular season, she is most proud of the team’s resilience. With lots of new bodies and unique playing styles, their growth has been both challenging and rewarding.

In regards to this weekend’s final tournament, she feels that “if we play well we will have a shot at the championship.”
