Tri-County Thunder Alumni, Nicole Venhuizen, is in full stride at Brock University studying Business Administration on a Co-Op.

Graduating high school and Thunder basketball in 2018, Nicole selected Brock as her next step when she discovered more about the business co-op program and later fell in love with the campus. Brock University had the perfect mix of a campus larger than she was familiar with and yet still small and intimate. And ultimately close enough to home while allowing space for independence.

Nicole shares that she is excited about the basketball staff and a great group of girls who are already becoming like a family in her new home. She is eager to continue to grow in her athletic development and push herself to new limits.

As for reflecting on her experience at Tri-County Thunder, she acknowledges that it was a “tremendous” opportunity to grow in confidence as she gave 110% effort day-in and day-out. Never settling and pushing to be the best she could be.

Now at Brock, she looks forward to playing against bigger and better players to see where she can be in a few years with hard work.

“Playing post-secondary is going to test me physically and mentally but I’m ready for the challenge and can’t wait to see how my team does.”

Nicole understands that deciding to play sports in university can be tough as it is very demanding but there are so many excellent benefits. She encourages Tri-County Thunder student-athletes to find the best fit school for them and look forward to the new connections you will make with those who have similar passions.

“Right away you have an immediate family that are they to support you and help you in good and bad times. Overall making any decision is hard and scary, but when you find the right school for you, it will be the best time of your life.”

On behalf of your Tri-County family and Allan Bush at CIBC Wood Gundy in Waterloo, all the best in your upcoming 2019-2020 season!
