Julianna Thomson (6’2″, P, Woodland CHS/Tri-County Thunder) of Conestogo, ON has committed to play in the Ivy League next Fall with Dartmouth College, located in Hanover, NH.
“I’m super excited to be able to have given my verbal commitment to Dartmouth College”, said an obviously beaming Thomson. “I’m glad to have the decision out of the way and focus on getting better and working hard my last year of high school!”
Thomson is a back to the basket Post with good size and good hands. She is able to get up and down the floor with relative ease and has shown to be able to demonstrate good shooting ability 5-10 feet away from the basket.
The commitment to a prestigious school such as Dartmouth Big Green is something that Thomson has shown interest in for some time. She has actively been courting high academic schools, with her stellar grades and willingness to travel away from home in order to fulfill her goals.
“Playing in the Ivy League will allow me receive a great education as well! Dartmouth offers so many awesome degree options and their unique D-Plan is awesome for student-athletes!”
“The small size of the school and the family atmosphere, of not only the basketball program, but the school, really appealed to me!”
Thomson is coming off of a successful season with her Tri-County Thunder team. They finished atop of the JUEL league standings with a 24-2 record and won the rep league’s Championship.
Look for Thomson to look to shore up her speed and aggressiveness as she looks to not only put a finishing touch on her Senior year but also to make an impact on her time with the Big Green.
Despite the things she may need to zero in on to excel at the next level, Thomson is confident that her life at the New Hampshire school will be just right, both on and off the court.
“Ever since the coaching staff at Dartmouth started recruiting me, I knew it would be a good fit! The coaches are very dedicated to the program, and the players. I believe that Dartmouth is a place I will be able to grow as a player and as a student.”
